We are seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our Cairns-based workshop team. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to work close to home while maintaining a diverse fleet of modern plant, heavy vehicles and equipment including CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, Kubota, Wirtgen, Kobelco and more.

About the RoleReporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of our fleet.
Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
Perform servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy earthmoving equipment, plant and vehicles.
Disassemble, repair and reassemble machinery and components.
Conduct workshop and field service work as required.
Complete maintenance records and associated documentation accurately.
Assist with parts and consumables management.
Maintain workshop tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and training activities.
Comply with all company HSEQ requirements and safe work practices.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or equivalent trade qualification.
Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, earthmoving plant, civil construction equipment or similar machinery.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Current driver's licence (HR licence highly regarded).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail.
Reliable work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude.
White Card and relevant site-based tickets advantageous.
Permanent full-time position based in Cairns.
