About the role
Located in the heart of the CBD, and nestled amongst the Adelaide Uni City West
Campus, The West Oak Hotel is seeking an experienced Full Time Chef to join our
successful and well-established kitchen team.
The role is responsible for being across all aspects of the kitchen in support of the Head Chef, from menu creation, ensuring quality and consistency, managing staff and controlling costs.
The Ideal candidate combines creativity with strong leadership and organisational skills.
About the Role
As Full Time Chef, you will be responsible for:
- Helping to design and develop innovative, seasonal menus aligned with the brand and customer expectations
- Be a key part of daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and high standards of food quality
- Assist with the Leadership, training, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Assist in Managing inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships to ensure cost control and minimal waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
- Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
- Collaborate with Head Chef on budgeting, pricing, and business strategy
- Maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation
- Handle customer feedback and continuously improve offerings
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, trends, and kitchen operations
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulations
- Financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
- Creative mindset with attention to detail
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications preferred
