Pipeline Development Manager

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Pipeline Development Manager to join the Commercialisation and Research Translation (CRT) team at Burnet Institute!

In this role, you will play a key role in advancing Burnet's research translation agenda by managing a portfolio of projects and initiatives that support the progression of research towards impact. Working closely with researchers, partners and internal stakeholders, you will help identify translation opportunities, develop pathways to implementation, secure resources and coordinate project delivery.

You will also:

• Support the identification and assessment of research, technology and intellectual property with commercial potential.
• Work with researchers to develop credible commercial propositions and translation pathways.
• Conduct market discovery, customer validation and industry research for early-stage technologies.
• Develop business cases, opportunity assessments and readiness checklists.
• Manage a sub-pipeline of early-stage opportunities and support prioritisation, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and innovation functions.

This is an ongoing, full-time position, based at 85 Commercial Road, Melbourne, Boonwurrung Land, Victoria. The role offers flexible working arrangements.

Let' talk about you

The following criteria are essential requirements:

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in research translation, innovation or commercialisation.
• Ability to assess early-stage ideas, including market potential, IP readiness and commercialisation pathways.
• Experience working with researchers in a university, research or research-intensive environment.
• Strong communication, organisation, stakeholder engagement and collaborative working skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

The following are preferable/desirable but not essential:

• Experience in deep tech, digital health or other research-intensive domains, including familiarity with university commercialisation governance and approval processes.
• Experience developing business cases, undertaking customer validation activities or developing translation plans.
