• Up to 25% loading on top of base salary in lieu of overtime and penalties (depending on regular shift pattern)

The Role

ABC News is looking for a dynamic Digital Editor to lead Melbourne’s digital news team. In this key leadership role, you’ll drive digital coverage of the stories that matter most to Victorians, including breaking news, live coverage and agenda-setting original reporting. With sharp editorial judgement, a passion for innovative storytelling and proven experience running a high-performing team, you’ll shape how local news and features are told across digital platforms, while inspiring a talented team of producers.

The Job

• Commission, and produce engaging, audience-first digital journalism that is accurate, impartial, and impactful for Victorian audiences.
• Identify and lead coverage of breaking news and key stories with a strong Victorian perspective. 
• Commission complex digital content creation, including innovative, visual and interactive storytelling. 
• Use analytics and experience to guide editorial decisions and provide feedback across digital platforms.
• Manage and mentor a team of digital producers, including recruitment, coaching, and performance reviews.

About You

You’re a strategic, dynamic and creative newsroom leader with a deep understanding of digital journalism and a passion for sharing Victorian and Australian stories. You’re interested in innovative ways to engage with new and existing audiences and maximise content distribution in a rapidly changing digital landscape. You thrive in fast-paced environments, inspire teams, and know how to deliver impactful content effectively under pressure.

You'll have:

• Extensive experience in digital news production, including newsgathering, visual journalism, social video, and interactive storytelling. 
• Advanced knowledge of multi-platform journalism and audience engagement strategies.
• Strong editorial judgement and the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
• Excellent collaboration skills, the ability to build strong relationships and a proven track record of leading and mentoring a high-performing team.
