Safety, compliance and operational excellence are at the core of everything we do. We are seeking a proactive and passionate WHS Advisor to join our growing Safety & Compliance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, driving continuous improvement, and making a genuine impact across a dynamic transport and logistics environment.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the National Safety & Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our Work Health & Safety Management System (WHSMS), ensuring compliance with legislative requirements while fostering a strong safety culture across our operations. This hands-on role will see you working across multiple sites, supporting frontline leaders, conducting investigations, managing safety systems and contributing to the ongoing development of safety initiatives throughout the business.
Key responsibilities:
Work Health & Safety
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of BTG's WHS Management System.
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Maintain risk registers, incident registers, and safety documentation.
Assist with the development and review of Safe Work Procedures and safety policies.
Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
Incident Management
Coordinate and investigate incidents, injuries, hazards and near misses.
Conduct root cause investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
Develop Safety Alerts, Toolbox Talks and corrective action plans.
Analyse safety trends and provide meaningful reporting to management.
Training & Competency
Support employee and contractor inductions.
Coordinate and monitor mandatory training and refresher requirements.
Assist with the development and delivery of safety awareness programs.
Maintain training records and competency matrices.
Fleet & Transport Safety
Support Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance activities.
Assist with fatigue management compliance and driver safety initiatives.
Support telematics, driver behaviour monitoring, and speed management programs.
Conduct compliance reviews and internal audits.
Dangerous Goods Compliance
Assist with Dangerous Goods compliance activities in accordance with the ADG Code.
Monitor training and competency requirements.
Provide practical guidance to operational personnel regarding DG obligations.
Safety Culture & Engagement
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and consultation activities.
Partner with operational leaders to implement practical safety improvements.
Promote a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused safety culture.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Essential
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or currently working towards).
Current Driver Licence.
Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, or heavy vehicle operations.
Strong understanding of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Desirable
ICAM (or equivalent) investigation training.
Certificate IV Training & Assessment.
Return to Work Coordinator qualification.
Dangerous Goods training or experience.
Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or a related discipline.
