FMLegal is a boutique compulsory acquisition firm. We support land owners and tenants when the government seeks to acquisition of a home, commercial property or business. Our lawyers are experts in resolving disputes about the amount of compensation payable to clients.  The increase in settlements we negotiate are typically 10%-300%, however, 20-35% increase over their initial offer is typical. We have negotiated hundreds of settlements from $50,000 to $45 million and have consistently achieved far better outcomes and agreements than all initial offers. Where we cannot reach an agreement, we act on the Determinations and in proceedings in the Land and Environment Court.

The Role

FM Legal has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Property Solicitor to help with an increase in client workload and projects. Our Solicitors are skilled in property law and work with new and existing clients as we manage their matter through the legal process, preparing and submitting applications, and negotiating with the acquiring authority and courts on achieving a successful outcome for our clients.

Qualifications & Skills

• Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years post qualification property law experience

• Conveyancing skills and experience in advising on contracts for sale of land required

• Court appearances may be required for non contested applications such as subpoenas and orders by consent

• Knowledge of the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 (NSW) will be very well regarded but not required as we will provide training.

• Detail Oriented with an eye for discrepancies and a "get it right the first time" attitude.

• Skilled in managing your billing, recording activities and hours spent on client cases.

• Smokeball experience is an asset as well as use of excel.
