About the role
Reporting to the Asset Recovery Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of loan accounts in default. You will be charged with chasing up arrears. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with borrowers/guarantors or their representatives, to identify reasons why they are unable to meet their obligations and apply an appropriate strategy by achieving resolutions through tailored solutions.
Key responsibilities
Portfolio monitoring and early-warning management: Monitor an assigned portfolio of commercial loans, including payment performance, facility expiries, construction progress, LVR movements, covenant compliance and emerging credit risks. Ensure exceptions and breaches are documented and escalated within prescribed policy timeframes.
Credit and risk analysis: Analyse borrower financial statements, loan documentation, security information and other relevant records to identify deterioration, causes of default, potential insolvency and changes in credit risk. Recommend appropriate risk-rating changes, provisions and other risk-mitigation measures.
Facility reviews: Review facilities approaching expiry and prepare recommendations regarding extensions, renewals, repayment requirements or other appropriate action.
Default and distressed-loan management: Monitor distressed and defaulted exposures in conjunction with the Head of Credit and Head of Investment. Develop documented recommendations covering repayment, refinancing, voluntary sale, forbearance, restructuring or enforcement.
Valuation and recovery analysis: Obtain and assess current valuations and prepare realistic recovery estimates incorporating enforcement, holding and selling costs. Support asset realisation activities and the timely appointment of valuers, solicitors, selling agents and other specialists.
Reporting and escalation: Maintain accurate records of risk events, agreed actions, recovery milestones and outstanding matters. Prepare timely reporting for the Credit Committee, and Management, as required.
Stakeholder management: Communicate professionally and promptly with borrowers, guarantors, directors, shareholders, creditors, legal representatives and other relevant stakeholders. Regulatory engagement must occur only with appropriate internal authorisation.
Compliance and collaboration: Perform duties in accordance with lending documents, internal policies, delegated authorities and applicable legislation. Collaborate with credit, asset management, finance, and compliance teams to achieve appropriate portfolio and recovery outcomes.
About you
Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, property, law or a related discipline.
Experience in dealing with insolvencies including controller or receiver and manager appointments is desirable.
Ability to interpret complex financial data and identify solutions. Analyse company financial statements and records to identify solvency indicators and recovery options.
Expert level of review accuracy in compliance documentation and reporting.
Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
Demonstrates ethical judgement and confidentiality.
Applies initiative to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
