About the role
Asset Reliability Inspections is an Australian provider of specialist inspection, Non-Destructive Testing and asset integrity services across the resources, energy, manufacturing, engineering and industrial sectors. We are committed to delivering technically rigorous, reliable and independent inspection services that support the safety, quality and integrity of critical assets.
Due to an international project requirement, we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Surveillance Inspector to represent ARI and a Tier 1 Australian client at a large-scale manufacturing foundry in China.
This is a hands-on, site-based position responsible for providing dedicated manufacturing surveillance and quality assurance throughout the production process. The successful candidate will monitor welding, fabrication, casting and inspection activities, verify compliance with approved procedures and inspection requirements, identify non-conformances and provide clear, accurate reporting to ARI and the client.
The role will involve:
Full-time surveillance of manufacturing and fabrication activities
Monitoring compliance with approved WPS, WPQR, ITPs and quality procedures
Witnessing and verifying NDT activities and inspection hold points
Visual and dimensional inspection of manufactured and cast components
Identifying, documenting and following up non-conformances
Maintaining comprehensive photographic and inspection records
Preparing accurate daily surveillance and quality reports
Communicating directly with client and foundry representatives
Escalating quality, technical and schedule risks as required
Supporting manufacturing traceability and overall project quality
Demonstrated experience in manufacturing surveillance, welding inspection, NDT, QA/QC or quality inspection
Trade qualification or formal qualification in welding, inspection, fabrication or a related discipline
Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures, codes and applicable standards
VT/NDT qualification essential, with MT, PT and/or UT highly regarded
Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, foundry, engineering or heavy industrial environment
Ability to interpret WPS, WPQR, ITPs, drawings and inspection documentation
Strong report writing and documentation skills
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with client representatives
Strong attention to detail and sound technical judgement
Ability to work independently and manage inspection requirements in a time-critical environment
Ability and willingness to travel internationally and work in China on a rotational basis
Ability to obtain and maintain the required visa and travel documentation
Experience within a foundry or casting environment
Knowledge of sand casting, investment casting or other casting processes
Metallurgical knowledge or understanding of material properties relevant to castings
Experience working with Tier 1 Australian resources, defence, infrastructure or energy clients
NATA or equivalent accreditation experience
Previous experience working in China or other Asian manufacturing environments
