Metro HD Deisel Mechanic

Workshop and field - service, repair and rebuild the fleet and get to metro and regional breakdowns fast in your own brand new Isuzu NPS field truck. You'll work across the workshop and out in the field for on-hire and off-hire repairs and maintenance, machine servicing, machine and component rebuilds, onsite on-hire and off-hire inspections, and field service breakdowns across the metro area and regional WA. The role comes with a brand new Isuzu NPS field truck, dedicated to you, and you'll be into brand new workshop facilities within 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Service and Breakdowns

• Attend metro and regional breakdowns, diagnose the fault and repair on site wherever possible.

• Carry out field servicing on customer sites, working unsupervised and to the Kais standard.

• Keep the field truck stocked, maintained, compliant and ready to roll.

2. On-Hire & Off-Hire Repairs

• Complete on-hire and off-hire repairs and maintenance so machines go out and come back right.

• Carry out onsite on-hire and off-hire inspections and report machine condition accurately.

• Identify and document defects, damage and wear, and quote or action the repair scope.

3. Servicing & Preventative Maintenance

• Compete scheduled servicing to OEM intervals and specification, in the workshop and in the field.

• Carry out inspections, fluid sampling and adjustments, and flag emerging issues early.

• Keep fleet availability high by getting services done on time and first time.

4. Machine & Component Rebuilds

• Carry out machine rebuilds through to handover, working to scope, budget and timeline.

• Strip, measure, assess and rebuild components - engines, transmissions, final drives, pumps and cylinders.

• Report wear and failure findings so repair-versus-replace calls are backed by evidence.

5. Diagnostics & Fault Finding

• Fault find across engine, hydraulic, electrical, driveline and control system.

• Use OEM diagnostic software and manuals to get to root cause, not just the symptom.

• Work in with the Maintenance Manager, Planner and parts team on repair plans and lead times.

6. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

• Work to WHS legislation, site rules and client requirements - JSAs, take 5s, isolation and permits.

• Complete service reports, inspection sheets, timesheets and parts usage accurately and on time.

• Keep the workshop, field truck and work areas clean, safe and presentable.

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years' heavy diesel mechanic experience across plant, earthmoving and truck fleet.

• 5+ years' breakdown and field service experience, metro and regional.

• Hands-on knowledge of Caterpillar, Bell, Volvo, Hitachi, Isuzu, Hino and Toyota.

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Fitting, Plant Mechanics or equivalent.

• Proven machine servicing, machine rebuild and component rebuild experience.

• Experience with on-hire and off-hire inspections, repairs and condition reporting.

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability, including OEM diagnostic software.

• Working knowledge of WHS legislation, risk assessment and site compliance.

• HR licence, or C class manual licence - the company can fund your HR upgrade.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical; tickets and site inductions desirable.

The Detail

Roster & Hours

• Monday to Friday, 6:00am start and 6:00pm finish (pending workload).

• Ad hoc weekend work as required, planned and shared across the team.

• Meal breaks must be taken - 30 minutes deducted daily.

• Regional field work and breakdown call-outs as required.

• On-hire and off-hire scopes and inspections completed and documented.

• Serivices and rebuilds finished to OEM standard, on time.

• Zero preventable safety incidents; paperwork audit-ready.
