About the role
Global Touring Specialist - Gig Travel Group
Melbourne (hybrid, 1 day in office after probation)
Some travel agencies book travel. We get productions on stage.
Gig Travel Group is a specialist travel management company for the entertainment industry. Our work is national tours, international routings, festival runs, theatre seasons, production crews and the artists on the other end of it.
We're looking for a Global Touring Specialist to take ownership of a portfolio of entertainment and production accounts.
What you'll actually doOwn a portfolio of touring, production and entertainment clients end-to-end — quote, book, ticket, change, and support them while they're on the roadBuild complex multi-sector international itineraries for bands, crews, families and freight, and rebuild them when a show movesHandle the reissues, involuntary changes and 11th-hour reroutes that come with live touringReach for the best commercial outcome — entertainment and net fares, sensible fee application, margin that holdsBuild genuine relationships with tour managers, production managers, promoters and artist managementHelp make our clients' gigs come to life
What you'll need3+ years in corporate, group or specialist travel management (entertainment, touring, sport, film or production experience is highly regarded, not essential — we'll teach you the touring side)Genuine GDS depth — Sabre preferred, and you're comfortable with fare construction, reissues and exchanges without needing to ask. Mid-office experience — Tramada preferredStrong Excel and Microsoft OfficeThe temperament for live work: calm under pressure, decisive, and able to hold detail across a dozen moving itinerariesA client-first instinct and the judgement to act without waiting to be told
Be clear-eyed about this partTouring doesn't run 9 to 5. There are stretches: tour cycles, festival season, an international leg going sideways at 2am (where you'll be contactable outside standard hours), and stretches where it's genuinely quiet. We share the general after-hours load across the team, we don't pretend it isn't there, and we don't expect you to be permanently on. If that trade sounds like the interesting part of the job, you'll enjoy it here. If it sounds like a dealbreaker, we'd rather you know now.
What we offer$80,000 base + superannuationPerformance incentive on top, and ours pays above market. A transparent commission scheme paid on the commission you generate across your own portfolio, on closed and reconciled files. We will walk you through the actual mechanics and the real numbers at interview, not after you sign.Hybrid working - currently one day in office (Collingwood) after probationA real year-round portfolio from day one, not a queueA small, senior team where your work is visible and your judgement is trustedAccess to entertainment product content specific to our industryRoom to grow as we do!
What success looks like in your first 12 monthsYou're running your portfolio without escalation. Your clients always ask for you by name. Your files reconcile cleanly. And when a tour changes without warning, even at midnight, the client's first thought is that you'll have already fixed it.
How to applyApply here or send your CV and a short cover note addressed to Shaun Matheson, and answer these three questions in your application:
Which GDS do you work in, how long have you worked in it, and what's the most complex reissue or reroute you've personally handled?
Tell us about a booking that went badly wrong. What happened, what did you do, and what did it cost?
Why this role, and why now?
