About Lavarack Health Centre

Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia.  It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment.  The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members.  It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend shifts). Base info input here

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours, weekend and on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.

What you’ll do

• Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members
• Occupational Medicine environment, conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care, in addition to injury management, chronic disease management and preventative health
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount.

What you bring

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner
• FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration
• Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five years in a GP Setting (GPT counts)
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
• Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care.
