Purchasing Officer – Manufacturing & Joinery

Full-Time | Sunshine Coast

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Purchasing Officer to join their busy manufacturing and joinery operation based on the Sunshine Coast.

This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring materials are purchased at the right price, arrive on time and are available ahead of production. You’ll work closely with the Operations, Estimating, Production, Projects and Warehouse teams to keep jobs moving efficiently.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Completing material take-offs for upcoming projects

• Raising and processing purchase orders through XERO

• Purchasing materials, hardware and supplies ahead of production requirements

• Negotiating supplier pricing, delivery terms and longer-term rates

• Ensuring purchasing remains within project budgets and identifying cost savings

• Building and maintaining strong supplier and contractor relationships

• Monitoring outstanding orders and following up deliveries

• Communicating supplier lead times and delays with Production and Project teams

• Managing stock levels, stock transfers and monthly stocktakes

• Checking and approving supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders

• Resolving invoice and PO discrepancies

• Organising freight and associated services

• Maintaining supplier records and inventory reporting

• Supporting the Warehouse team when required

The position plays an important part in maintaining inventory levels and ensuring raw materials and supplies are available to support seamless production.

About You

Ideally, you will have:

• 3+ years' experience in purchasing, procurement or a similar role

• Experience within manufacturing, joinery, cabinetry, construction or a production environment highly regarded

• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills

• Experience with stock and inventory control

• Excellent organisation and ability to manage deadlines

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills

• XERO experience highly regarded

• Experience with Trello or similar scheduling software advantageous

• Current Driver's Licence

• Forklift Licence advantageous
