Senior Project Manager — SAP S/4HANA & Cloud Transformation

A senior, EL2-equivalent project management contract leading complex SAP transformation delivery inside a federal government department. Twelve months to start, with two six-month extension options taking the engagement out to two years. Potential start date - early September.

Baseline clearance required as a minimum.

About the work

A large federal government department is running a multi-year SAP transformation program — cloud uplift, modernisation and RISE with SAP — across a core enterprise finance platform. You'll take delivery leadership of that work end to end.

This is a genuine delivery leadership role. You'll own governance, drive the schedule, run the vendor relationships, and be the person the executive comes to when a dependency slips. You'll work across multiple SAP workstreams simultaneously — S/4HANA, ECC, integrations and cross-module initiatives — within an Agile delivery framework.

What you'll be doing

•      Leading end-to-end SAP project delivery using Agile methods — planning, design, build, test, deployment and transition to operations

•      Managing SAP cloud uplift implementations across multiple modules, aligned to business requirements and strategic objectives

•      Overseeing delivery across multiple SAP workstreams including S/4HANA, ECC, integrations and cross-module initiatives

•      Running project governance, executive reporting, RAID management and stakeholder communications

•      Managing schedules, milestones, dependencies, budgets and vendor engagements

•      Facilitating design workshops, business requirement validation and Fit-to-Standard processes

•      Leading cutover planning, readiness assessments, deployment and transition to BAU support

•      Monitoring risks, issues and dependencies, implementing mitigations and escalating early

•      Building and holding relationships across business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and delivery partners

What you'll bring

Depth across most of the following:

•      Demonstrated experience as an SAP Project Manager delivering medium to large-scale SAP programs

•      Hands-on delivery experience with SAP cloud uplift (highly desirable)

•      Experience across S/4HANA, SAP ECC or broader SAP modules — RISE with SAP experience is highly regarded

•      Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and project governance frameworks

•      Proven success managing cross-functional SAP implementation teams in complex delivery environments

•      Strong stakeholder management, communication and workshop facilitation skills

•      The range to work across multiple SAP workstreams beyond S/4HANA when required

Experience in an APS or other government environment is well regarded — particularly around governance, assurance and procurement — but a strong commercial SAP transformation background is equally welcome.

Location & working arrangements

You must already be based in the ACT or the immediately surrounding region. Unfortunately, interstate candidates, including those offering to travel regularly to Canberra, will not be considered, at this stage.

•      Canberra-based office in the inner south, easy parking and light rail access

•      Hybrid — up to 2 days per week working from home may be available once you're established, subject to business agreement

•      Additional office attendance as operational needs require

•      40 hours per week maximum
