CHEF - DUNDEE BEACH TAVERN

Location: Dundee Beach, Northern Territory | Position: Chef - Casual

Dundee Beach Tavern is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our team at our busy hospitality venue in Dundee Beach, Northern Territory.

This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified or suitably experienced Chef who is confident working in a busy kitchen environment and can contribute to the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, from food preparation and service through to menu planning, stock management and maintaining high food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

●Developing and planning menu items to suit the venue, customer demand and available produce.

●Preparing and cooking a variety of meals to a consistently high standard.

●Overseeing the quality, presentation and portioning of meals throughout preparation and service.

●Calculating food requirements and assisting with the management of food and kitchen labour costs.

●Managing kitchen stock levels and ordering food, ingredients and other kitchen supplies as required.

●Working closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house employees to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.

●Providing guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation methods, cooking techniques and presentation standards.

●Ensuring correct food handling, storage, temperature control and kitchen hygiene procedures are followed.

●Maintaining compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety and hygiene requirements.

●Assisting with the supervision, training and development of kitchen staff where required.

●Ensuring food is stored and preserved appropriately to maintain quality and minimise wastage.

●Contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen and assisting management with continuous improvement of food service.

Skills & Experience

●A relevant commercial cookery qualification at Diploma level or equivalent; or

●At least three years of relevant professional experience where appropriate experience is accepted in place of formal qualifications.

●Previous experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.

●Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food presentation.

●Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.

●The ability to organise and prioritise workloads in a busy kitchen.

●Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.

●The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

●A reliable and professional approach to work.

The position is based at Dundee Beach Tavern, Dundee Beach NT and will require the successful applicant to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
