We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor to lead all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security initiatives for our Willoughby manufacturing facility.
This highly visible role partners closely with the Plant Manager and Site Leadership Team to ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen safety culture, drive sustainability initiatives, and lead continuous improvement efforts that create a safer, healthier, and more efficient workplace. What You'll Do
Champion a World-Class Safety Culture
Lead the site's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) programs and foster a culture where safety is everyone's responsibilityDevelop and implement long-term EHSS strategies, annual objectives, and performance metricsPromote employee engagement through training, coaching, and daily interaction that reinforces safe work practicesChampion sustainability and KAITEKI initiatives that support environmental responsibility and operational excellence
Ensure Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental regulations, and Mitsubishi Chemical safety standardsDevelop, maintain, and continuously improve the site's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Management System (Business Excellence System)Manage environmental compliance programs and regulatory reportingServe as the primary contact for internal and external EHSS audits and regulatory inspections
Lead Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
Drive risk assessments, process safety reviews, root cause investigations, and corrective action programsLead incident investigations and implement preventive actions that reduce workplace injuries and environmental incidentsIdentify opportunities to improve housekeeping, 5S, safety performance, and operational risk managementUtilize DMAIC and continuous improvement methodologies to solve complex EHSS challenges
Partner with Operations & Site Leadership
Serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, providing strategic guidance on safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiativesPartner with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to proactively identify and mitigate EHSS risksSupport new projects, process changes, and operational improvements through effective risk assessments and safety planningAssist plant leadership in making business decisions that support safe and sustainable operations
Develop People & Drive Engagement
Develop and deliver EHSS training programs for employees across the facilityMentor leaders and employees on EHSS best practices, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvementFacilitate cross-functional improvement teams focused on reducing risk and improving operational performancePromote accountability through performance metrics, leading indicators, and ongoing communication
Support Regional Initiatives
Support Americas EHSS projects and best-practice sharing across multiple facilitiesAssist with multi-site EHSS initiatives as assignedTravel to North American facilities to support corporate EHSS programs and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field preferred5–7 years of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) experienceManufacturing experience strongly preferredStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and industrial safety practicesExperience leading audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programsUnderstanding of DMAIC problem-solving methodology and continuous improvement principlesStrong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial manufacturing processesExcellent leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesProficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systemsProven ability to influence teams and drive a positive safety culture
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant professional certificationExperience in plastics, polymers, or advanced manufacturingExperience with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Management SystemsExperience leading sustainability or environmental improvement initiatives
Travel
10–25% travel to North American manufacturing facilitiesOccasional international travel may be required

The salary range for this position is $77,680.00 - $116,520.00 USD Annual. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
