About The Role
Townsville City Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Offsets Project Officer to support the delivery of Council's Environmental Offsets Program.
This position plays a key role in coordinating and delivering on-ground environmental offset projects, ensuring Council's offset obligations are achieved in accordance with approval conditions, legislation and best practice land management principles. You will work across a diverse portfolio of offset sites and activities, including rehabilitation, revegetation, habitat enhancement, bushfire management, weed and pest control, monitoring and reporting.
Working closely with the Environmental Offsets Program Manager, you will coordinate contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to deliver projects safely, efficiently and in a manner that achieves long-term environmental outcomes.
About You
You are an organised and solutions-focused environmental professional with experience delivering environmental, land management or natural resource management projects. You enjoy working in the field as well as managing project administration, reporting and stakeholder relationships.
You are proactive, highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail. With excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, you are comfortable working with contractors, government agencies, landholders, consultants and internal teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Requirements And Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, biodiversity, natural resources management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.Demonstrated experience in environmental project delivery, land management, natural resource management or a related field.Demonstrated working knowledge of Queensland and/or Commonwealth environmental offset requirements, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.Experience coordinating contractors, consultants or field-based works programs.Strong project management, organisational and record-keeping skills.Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting requirements.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.Commitment to workplace health and safety and environmental compliance.Qualifications in project management and/or experience applying project management principles will be highly regarded.Understanding of Queensland Local Government processes and legislation would be advantageous.Current "C" Class Driver Licence.
