About the role
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, supplies, and services. This role supports operational efficiency by ensuring the timely availability of high-quality goods at competitive prices.
Key responsibilities
Liaise regularly with warehouse, operations, workshop, and production stakeholders to understand upcoming requirements and respond promptly to changing priorities
Track shipments and coordinate logistics activities, communicating potential delays and corrective actions to relevant stakeholders
Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure all purchasing documentation is updated and filed correctly
Review requisitions and issue accurate purchase orders in a timely manner, ensuring all purchasing activities are actioned with appropriate urgency
Source materials and services that meet required specifications, quality standards, delivery requirements, and budget expectations
Request, evaluate, and compare supplier quotations, considering cost, quality, lead times, and reliability to support informed purchasing decisions
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules to achieve best value while maintaining strong supplier relationships
Monitor supplier performance and proactively follow up outstanding orders to ensure on-time delivery and minimise supply disruptions
Assist with supplier onboarding, maintain accurate supplier records, and support contract reviews and compliance requirements
Analyse inventory usage trends, review minimum and maximum stock levels, and recommend replenishment strategies to optimise stock holdings
About you
Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline
3–5 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, with exposure to supplier negotiation and ERP systems (SAP)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on commitments, and meet deadlines
Self-motivated, proactive, and responsive, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership
Able to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance, and to respond to operational requirements with a sense of urgency
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage regularly with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and service providers
Good analytical skills with the ability to review inventory usage, monitor stock levels, and assist in maintaining appropriate stock holdings
