Food Truck Manager / Chef

Full-time | $85,000 ++ per annum plus superannuation
Home base: Moorabbin and Dandenong

Toasted Truck & Deli is looking for an experienced, hands-on Food Truck Manager/Chef to take ownership of our food truck operations across Melbourne, regional Victoria and selected festivals.

This is a practical, hands-on role combining cooking, team leadership, customer service, cleaning and responsibility for driving and operating our automatic food truck.

While this is a management position, it is not a supervisory-only role. You will lead from the front and work alongside the team. Some shifts will also involve working independently, including opening and closing the truck alone.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

• Driving the food truck safely to and from events

• Managing bump-in, setup, service and bump-out

• Opening and closing the food truck, sometimes independently

• Leading and coordinating the food truck crew

• Cooking and delivering consistently high-quality food

• Working independently during selected services when required

• Maintaining fast, organised service during busy events

• Completing daily cleaning throughout and after service

• Performing full truck clean-downs, including cooking equipment, benches, floors, fridges and service areas

• Managing food safety, hygiene and presentation standards

• Monitoring stock, equipment and service readiness

• Communicating professionally with clients and event organisers

• Troubleshooting operational issues during service

• Completing regional and festival work, including some overnight stays

When there is not enough scheduled food truck work to fill your full-time hours, additional shifts will be provided at our fixed stores in Moorabbin or Carnegie.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong cooking or chef experience

• Has experience leading a kitchen, food truck or hospitality team

• Is genuinely hands-on and willing to handle every part of the operation

• Is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for an entire shift

• Takes pride in cleaning and maintaining an exceptionally clean food truck

• Is comfortable and confident driving and manoeuvring a larger vehicle

• Can remain calm, organised and decisive during high-volume services

• Is dependable, practical and willing to take ownership

• Understands food safety and commercial-kitchen standards

• Is comfortable working weekends, festivals and regional events

• Can stay away overnight when required

• Is happy to work across the food truck and our fixed locations

A Medium Rigid licence is required to drive the truck. If you don’t currently hold one, we are willing to pay for the right candidate to obtain it. However, you must be genuinely comfortable driving and manoeuvring the rig.

The truck is automatic.

Hours and availability

This is a full-time role with weekend availability required. Food truck and festival work naturally includes weekends, public events and some irregular hours.

We understand the importance of having weekends off and will provide them where operationally possible, but applicants must be available for regular weekend work.

Salary

$85,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Overnight accommodation and approved work-related travel expenses will be arranged or reimbursed when regional and festival work requires staying away from home.
