A unique opportunity has arisen, in Norton Rose Fulbright's Banking and Finance group in Sydney, for a Senior Associate with strong demonstrated experience in derivatives transactions but who is also looking to expand their expertise to other areas of banking and finance practice. The role will principally involve working with our derivatives partner, Vittorio Casamento, advising domestic and international financial institutions on complex OTC derivatives transactions and related derivatives regulations.
In this role, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to expand their practice and will be encouraged to work on a variety of other transactions in the structured and general corporate/property finance space, including:

Our dedicated global derivatives practice advises leading financial institutions and major corporates on complex transactions across Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. The breadth and depth of our experience ensures that we are at the forefront of new developments and techniques, and our clients benefit from our experience and understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding international derivatives markets. We advise global investment banks, fund managers, corporates, hedge funds, clearinghouses and derivatives service providers on the entire spectrum of derivatives transactions. Our trade organization clients include the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), the European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET), FIA Europe and the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM).
Norton Rose Fulbright's Sydney Banking and Finance group works on a range of other transactions ranging from property finance, acquisition finance and project finance, to debt capital markets and general corporate banking. Clients include the major Australian banks, Australian and global investment banks and many other institutions active in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of the wider Norton Rose Fulbright network, many of the transactions the team is involved with have cross-border elements, requiring a high level of collaboration with Norton Rose Fulbright colleagues in other offices, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
Requirements
The key requirements for this role are as follows:Demonstrated experience in derivatives and structured finance gained at a reputable national or international law firm or in-house at a leading financial institutionAt least 5+ years post qualification experienceAbility to work independently and also as a part of a team with multiple partners within the groupAbility to build and grow a network and assist with business development and marketing initiativesEligible to practice law in Australia
