ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Auto Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems on heavy mobile equipment, including Caterpillar dozers, loaders, and associated machinery.

The role also involves building and programming custom Williams product ladder control boxes, wiring access systems and general wiring harnesses plus supporting specialised electrical fit-outs across a range of equipment. You will work to high safety and quality standards in both workshop and field environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose, repair and maintain electrical systems on heavy mobile equipment

• Install and wire access control systems and associated components

• Build and program custom control boxes for equipment applications

• Build wiring harnesses for various systems across and inside machinery

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance

• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations and modifications and update documentation where required

• Collaborate with mechanical technicians and engineers on integrated systems

• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Certificate III in Auto Electrical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)

• Minimum 3 years of experience working on heavy mobile equipment electrical systems

• Experience with Caterpillar equipment highly regarded

• Proficiency with CAT SIS 2.0 and Parts Store

• Experience building and programming control boxes

• Skilled in the fabrication and installation of wiring harnesses, looms, and custom cable assemblies for heavy equipment applications

• Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, including the ability to inspect, test, and document electrical work to ensure it meets required standards and specifications
