Position Title: Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) Project Support Officer
Organisation: Islamic Council of Victoria
Reports to ICV: ICV Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) Support Service Coordinator, ICV Chief Executive Officer
Work location: Hybrid - In-Person at ICV Office at 66-68 Jeffcott Street, West Melbourne, working from home and outreach across Victoria.
Pay Range: $37.00 - $42.55/hr + 12% super
FTE: 0.8 FTE
Type: Fixed-Term role ending November 2027 with the possibility of extension

The Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) is the peak body for Muslim organisations in Victoria. The ICV represents the wider Victorian Muslim community and has more than 85 member organisations located throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The ICV’s vision is to build a better community for all Australians through the empowerment of Muslims in Victoria. The ICV aims to fulfil this vision through the provision of advocacy, community development and social welfare services, in consultation and cooperation with governments, multifaith communities, service providers and wider society. The organisation is firmly committed to providing support for, and protecting the rights of, Victorian Muslims.
Role Purpose:
We're pleased to share that, with new funding secured, the ICV's Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) Support Service is once again operating. The program is under the ICV President who has oversight and carriage of the portfolio. The Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) Support Service (AMHSS) Project Support Officer works as part of a small, specialist team addressing Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) through reporting, advocacy, education, and community capacity-building.
The role provides community engagement, project, training, digital, operational, and case management support across the AMHSS program, working under the direction of the AMHSS Coordinator. It contributes to the delivery of training and development activities, online and digital engagement, event coordination, case management and client support, and day-to-day project administration.
This role is critical to ensuring the AMHSS program is delivered efficiently, consistently, and to a high standard within a fixed funding time frame, while providing opportunities to build skills and experience across community programs, training delivery, digital engagement, and case management.
Key Accountabilities:
Community Engagement & Relationships
Build and maintain relationships with Muslim communities, member societies, local government, service providers, and schools.
Deliver community engagement activities aligned with the Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) program’s objectives.
Coordinate and facilitate consultations, workshops, forums, and webinars (in-person and online) to gather community insights and feedback.
Contribute to community information sessions and presentations.
Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and contribute to reports for management and funders.
Support other engagement and outreach activities as required.
Case Management & Client Support
Provide intake, triage and initial needs assessment for people reporting Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia), under the direction of the AMHSS Coordinator.
Provide information, advice and referrals to clients, connecting them with legal, mental health, and community support options.
Carry a caseload of client matters as allocated, supporting clients to navigate complaints, reporting and support pathways.
Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and client records in line with ICV privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Participate in regular supervision, critical debriefing and vicarious trauma support sessions.
Provide other client and service support as required.
Project & Program Support
Provide day-to-day project support to the Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) Support Service, including coordination of tasks, timelines, and documentation, under direction.
Assist with tracking program activities, milestones, and outputs to support internal reporting and funding acquittals.
Support the maintenance of records, registers, and project documentation in line with ICV requirements.
Provide other administrative and operational support to the program as required.
Training & Development Support
Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of face-to-face and online training sessions, workshops, and briefings.
Assist with the preparation of training materials, slides, handouts, evaluation tools, and participant communications.
Support facilitation logistics, including venue coordination, registrations, attendance tracking, and follow-up activities.
Support other training and capability-building activities as required.
Digital & Online Engagement
Assist with online engagement activities, including webinars, digital consultations, and virtual events.
Support social media monitoring related to Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) trends, incidents, and public discourse, escalating relevant issues to the AMHSS Coordinator.
Assist with scheduling and publishing digital content in collaboration with the AMHSS team.
Support other digital communications and engagement activities as required.
Events & Outreach Support
Provide logistical and administrative support for community forums, events, and outreach activities.
Assist with event promotion, registrations, materials preparation, and on-the-day coordination.
Support other ICV and program events as required.
Communications & Resources
Support the development and dissemination of program resources such as fact sheets, guides, toolkits, and digital content.
Assist with maintaining program content across online platforms and shared folders.
Contribute to other program communications and resources as required.
Quality, Safety & Values
Ensure all activities are delivered in a culturally safe, trauma-informed, inclusive, and respectful manner.
Work collaboratively within the AMHSS team and under direction from the AMHSS Coordinator and ICV management.
Comply with ICV policies and procedures, including privacy, confidentiality and information handling requirements.
Meet duty of care and mandatory reporting obligations, escalating risks, incidents or safety concerns to the AMHSS Coordinator, CEO or management.
Participate in required training and professional development, including workplace health and safety.

Key Selection Criteria:
Technical Expertise
Demonstrated experience supporting projects, programs, or coordination activities, preferably in the community or not-for-profit sector.
Experience supporting training and development activities, including workshops, presentations, or online learning (delivery or coordination).
Demonstrated confidence using online platforms and digital tools, including Zoom, webinar platforms, and shared document systems.
Experience supporting events or forums, including logistics, registrations, or participant coordination.
Experience assisting with social media monitoring or digital engagement, or demonstrated capacity to develop these skills.
Experience providing support, information or referrals to clients or community members, particularly people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, or demonstrated capacity to develop these skills.
Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
Understanding of issues affecting Muslim communities in Australia, particularly Anti-Muslim Hate (Islamophobia) and racism.
Skills and Knowledge
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance and support.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with systems, data, and records, including maintaining logs, registers, and basic reports, with attention to privacy and confidentiality.
Confidence using standard office software and online collaboration tools, with a willingness to learn new systems.

Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in community services, social work, psychology, social sciences, communications, project management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in the community or not-for-profit sector is desirable.
