Fitter & Machinist

About the Role

For more than 50 years, Kypreos Group has helped deliver essential road infrastructure across New South Wales. We are now looking for a skilled and safety-focused Fitter & Machinist to join our Facilities Division, supporting asphalt manufacturing facilities across multiple locations in Sydney Metro and the South Coast.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you will maintain, repair and improve critical plant and equipment - helping keep our facilities operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative and breakdown maintenance on asphalt manufacturing plant/facility equipment.

• Repair and replace mechanical components including bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, screens, valves, and drive systems.

• Use workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.

• Support shutdowns, inspections, fault finding, and facility improvement projects.

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and maintenance instructions.

• Complete maintenance records, job sheets, and risk assessments as required.

• Participate in stock management and workshop housekeeping activities.

• Follow all company safety procedures, permit systems, and environmental requirements.

• Work collaboratively with operators, contractors, and other maintenance personnel to minimise production downtime.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Successful completion of Mechanical Fitter & Machinist apprenticeship.

• Experience in a manufacturing, quarrying, asphalt, mining, construction materials, or a heavy industrial environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.

• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

• Understanding of preventative maintenance principles.

• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Effective communication skills.

• Current driver's licence.

Desirable but not essential

• Welding and fabrication experience.

• Experience with conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, hydraulic systems, and rotating equipment.

• Forklift, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Working at Heights, or Confined Space tickets.

• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
