What is TRAK Forward?

TRAK Forward provides specialist therapeutic support to adult and child victim survivors of family violence, helping them move forward from the impact of violence and begin their recovery journey.

Working within a trauma-informed, phase-based framework, the program provides individual and joint therapeutic interventions across the age range. This includes adults who may or may not be parents, children and young people, and parent-child dyads.

Alongside counselling, families can access complementary supports including peer support, art therapy and trauma-informed yoga.

Join a specialist team of eight, including the Team Leader, working within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency partnership focused on recovery and healing.

You will:

• Provide trauma counselling and therapeutic interventions to adults, children and young people affected by family violence.
• Deliver individual and dyadic therapy, including therapeutic work with parents and children together.
• Use creative, play-based and other developmentally appropriate approaches, particularly when working with children and young people.
• Support clients experiencing complex, developmental, relational and intergenerational trauma from their experience of family violence
• Develop therapeutic goals and recovery plans in partnership with clients and families.
• Deliver brief to medium-term therapeutic interventions, generally for up to six months.
• Contribute to small therapeutic groups and complementary recovery activities.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Office based with  outreach, or online support provided where appropriate.

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degrees, Graduate Certificates, and Master’s Degrees are required to work in family violence programs. If you hold a Diploma, then you will need to complete further study and complete a higher level of education.

Skills and experience we value:

We are looking for a degree-qualified social work, psychologist or in a related discipline, aligned to the MMQ, with a strong foundation in family violence and trauma therapy.

You will bring:

• Professional experience in counselling or therapeutic practice.
• Demonstrated experience providing therapy to people affected by family violence and/or complex trauma.
• Experience working therapeutically with children and young people, particularly in a counselling setting.
• Experience supporting people experiencing developmental, complex, relational and/or intergenerational trauma.
• Experience using creative, play-based or other non-talk therapeutic approaches.
• Demonstrated capability in individual and dyadic therapy, including parent-child work.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment.
• A flexible and creative approach to adapting therapeutic practice to each client's needs, developmental stage and recovery goals.
• Experience with the Safe & Together model or other relevant family violence frameworks will be highly regarded.
• Experience in specialist trauma, family violence, child and adolescent counselling or therapeutic services will be particularly valued.
• Additional qualifications in counselling, play therapy, family therapy art therapy etc highly regarded.

Make it work:

• Full time, permanent.
• A salary starting at around $115,339 plus super plus salary packaging (Level 6 SCHADS)
• Negotiable dependent upon your years of experience or current SCHCADS level.
• Position will be based at Box Hill with travel required throughout the inner east suburbs.
