The San Telmo group exists for a love of South American food and lifestyle. Beginning back in 2011 with the dream of a real Argentine Parilla Restaurant in Melbourne becoming a reality when San Telmo opened its doors to the public. Since then the group has evolved and expanded to bring more of the flavours and fun from South America to our beloved home city.

Whether it’s the heartwarming Italian influence coming through in dishes at Palermo Restaurant or the excitingly Spanish leaning menu at Asado Restaurant, the heart always remains the same. Focusing on traditional charcoal and fire cooking methods combined with the best quality Australian ingredients while still providing new and exciting approaches to an ancient and time proven food culture.

The San Telmo Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our team in Palermo. As part of the Palermo BOH department, this full-time permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the culinary excellence for which we are renowned. Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the preparation of high-quality dishes under the guidance of the senior chefs.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.
• Contributing to menu planning and development, ensuring adherence to quality and presentation standards.
• Supporting the team in stock management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as necessary.
• Executing cooking, food preparation, and presentation tasks according to set standards.
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and requirements.

Main Tasks:

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping.
• Assist in setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Follow recipes accurately while maintaining high standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
• Ensure that food storage areas are kept clean and organised at all times.
• Support the senior chefs in monitoring food quality during each stage of preparation.
