Trades Assistant

Join Ampcontrol's High Voltage Field Service team in Gladstone and play a hands-on role supporting the maintenance, testing and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure across Queensland. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Trades Assistant looking to gain exposure to high voltage equipment, work alongside experienced technicians and electricians, and build a long-term career in the electrical services industry.

Working across workshop and field environments, you'll assist with transformer inspections, oil sampling, testing activities and project delivery while travelling to customer sites throughout the region. Every day brings variety, practical hands-on work and the opportunity to contribute to the safe operation of essential power assets.

What You Will Do

• Support technicians and electricians with the delivery of field service and project work
• Conduct visual condition assessments of transformers
• Collect transformer oil samples for testing and analysis
• Assist with transformer testing and maintenance activities
• Prepare, organise and deliver materials required for jobs
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a high standard
• Complete job documentation and reports
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Support site isolations and safe work practices
• Travel to customer sites across the region and throughout Queensland as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a safety-focused individual who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in supporting a high-performing team.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in a field service, industrial, utility, mining, manufacturing or oil & gas environment
• Current Driver's Licence
• White Card (General Construction Induction)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to work away from home when required
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• HR Truck Licence
• Forklift (LF)
• Elevated Work Platform (WP)
• Dogging (DG)
• First Aid Certificate
• Low Voltage Rescue & Release (LVR)
• Confined Space Entry
