About the role

Complete GRP is seeking a skilled and experienced Gelcoater to join our team on a full-time basis in Steiglitz, QLD 4207. This is a hands-on position that plays a crucial role in the production of high-quality fibreglass reinforced plastic (GRP) products. As a Gelcoater, you will be responsible for applying gelcoat finishes to moulds and composite structures, ensuring superior surface quality and aesthetic appeal on all our products. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and delivering products that meet our strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply gelcoat to fibreglass moulds and composite structures using spray equipment or brushes, ensuring even coverage and consistent finish quality

• Prepare work surfaces by cleaning and waxing moulds prior to gelcoat application if required

• Inspect finished gelcoat work for defects, imperfections and colour consistency, conducting quality control checks

• Maintain gelcoating equipment, including spray guns and application tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working order

• Follow health and safety protocols when handling chemical materials and operating equipment

• Collaborate with production team members to meet production schedules and targets

• Assist with troubleshooting surface finish issues and implementing corrective actions as needed

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Gelcoater or in a similar fibreglass/composite finishing role

• Strong knowledge of gelcoat application techniques and composite materials handling

• Proficiency with spray equipment and finishing tools

• Understanding of health and safety regulations relating to chemical handling and workshop environments

• Ability to work to tight tolerances and maintain high quality standards consistently

• Attention to detail and commitment to producing flawless finishes

• Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods

• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic

• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
