Team members are encouraged to contribute ideas, collaborate, and take ownership of their work.Role Description The Bookkeeper at BOXCAR BARBERS is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. This full-time hybrid role is based in Melbourne, VIC, with a mix of on-site work at the barbershop and some work from home as agreed. Daily tasks include recording transactions, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing basic financial reports for management. The Bookkeeper will manage accounts payable and receivable, monitor cash flow, and ensure timely payment of suppliers and other obligations. The role also involves working with accounting software, organizing financial documentation, supporting budgeting processes, and collaborating with the owner to provide clear financial insights that aid decision-making.Qualifications Strong bookkeeping and finance skills, with experience in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day financial operations.Proficiency in accounting software and systems, with the ability to use digital tools to manage transactions and generate reports.Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries.Ability to accurately post and reconcile journal entries (accounting), ensuring accounts are up-to-date and compliant.Relevant qualification or certification in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance (e.g., Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or equivalent experience).Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with non-finance team members in a small business environment.Experience in retail, hospitality, or service-based small businesses is beneficial, along with familiarity with Australian accounting and tax practices.
