How do you apply AI to real-world operational problems?
Workforce scheduling. Timesheeting. Field Services. Asset maintenance. Safety. Compliance. Operational decision-making.
saas nine is partnering with a major Australian organisation operating across complex engineering, infrastructure and field-based environments to identify an experienced AI Solutions Architect.
This isn't simply an AI development role.
We're looking for someone who can work directly with functional consultants, operational teams, and Subject Matter Experts; understand how the business actually operates; identify where AI can deliver measurable value; and architect the solution from concept through to production.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The organisation has an established Microsoft technology environment and significant internal functional and operational expertise.
What they need is the AI architecture capability to bring these worlds together.
You'll work with SMEs across areas including:
• Field Services• Asset Management & Maintenance• Workforce Management• Scheduling & Rostering• Safety & Compliance• Enterprise Operations
Your role will be to understand their processes, problems, data, and decision points, and determine how AI, intelligent agents, automation, and the wider Microsoft ecosystem can improve how the organisation operates.

• Workforce and resource optimisation• Intelligent scheduling and rostering• Timesheet automation and validation• Field Service optimisation• Predictive and preventative maintenance• Asset and maintenance intelligence• Safety and incident analysis• Compliance and operational risk• Enterprise knowledge assistants• AI Agents and role-specific Copilots• Intelligent document and workflow automation• Natural-language access to enterprise data
You won't be expected to arrive as the Subject Matter Expert across each of these areas.
The business already has those people.
You need to be able to sit with the SME, understand their world, identify what AI can do with it and architect a secure, scalable enterprise solution.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Lead AI discovery sessions with business, functional and operational stakeholders• Identify and prioritise enterprise AI opportunities• Translate operational requirements into end-to-end AI architectures• Design AI Agent, Copilot, RAG and intelligent automation solutions• Architect solutions across Microsoft AI, Azure and Microsoft Fabric• Determine when to use Generative AI, Agentic AI, predictive AI, automation or analytics• Architect integrations with enterprise applications, APIs and operational systems• Design solutions using structured and unstructured enterprise data• Establish reusable AI architecture patterns• Define AI security, identity, governance and Responsible AI controls• Design guardrails and human-in-the-loop controls for sensitive and safety-critical processes• Work with Data, Engineering, Applications and Security teams from discovery through to production
TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT
We're interested in experience across:
• Microsoft Foundry / Azure AI Foundry• Azure OpenAI• Microsoft Copilot Studio• Microsoft 365 Copilot• AI Agents / Agentic AI• LLMs• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)• Semantic / Vector Search• Microsoft Fabric / OneLake• Fabric Data Engineering• Fabric Real-Time Intelligence• Power BI / Semantic Models• Azure Functions• Logic Apps• API Management• REST APIs / Enterprise Integration• Microsoft Entra ID• Microsoft Purview• Responsible AI / AI Governance• AI evaluation, observability and monitoring
Exposure to enterprise platforms such as Dynamics 365, SAP, ServiceNow, workforce management, asset management or Field Service solutions would be highly regarded.
ABOUT YOU
You could currently be an:
• AI Solutions Architect• AI Architect• Data & AI Architect• Azure AI Architect• Principal AI Consultant• Solutions Architect – AI & Data• Senior AI Engineer moving into Architecture
We're looking for someone who combines architecture capability with enough hands-on technical knowledge to prototype, validate and challenge solutions.
You should be equally comfortable speaking with a Field Services or Safety SME about how their operation works as you are whiteboarding an AI architecture with Data and Engineering teams.
Experience across Infrastructure, Engineering, Rail, Transport, Utilities, Mining, Resources, Manufacturing, Construction, Asset Management or Field Services would be highly regarded, but isn't mandatory.
What's more important is your ability to take AI beyond the demo and apply it to genuine enterprise business problems.
