Position Summary:
As the Senior Accountant, you will work closely with our clients across a range of tax and accounting matters while also supporting and mentoring junior members of the team. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing work, providing technically sound advice, and helping ensure our clients receive accurate, timely and practical support.

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, enjoys being client-facing and is confident building relationships with both clients and team members.

This is a part-time, office-based role working four days per week from our Mackay office, with Tuesdays off.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.

• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.

• Train junior accountants, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.

• Delegate and review tasks of their team members.

• Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards, and share knowledge with the team.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Skills:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax and financial reporting.

• Minimum 1.5–2 years’ experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior staff. Formal management experience is not essential if you have experience reviewing work, delegating tasks and helping develop other team members.

• In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards.

• Confident and comfortable in a client-facing role, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate clearly with clients.

• Proficiency in Handitax and experience with Karbon workflow is advantageous.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Superior verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Proven leadership and team management skills.

• High level of integrity and professionalism.
