About the Role:

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre in Broadmeadows. This is a full-time dynamic, operationally focused role where you will provide trusted HR advisory support to leaders and employees across the Centre, as well as Melbourne-based operations.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, operational HR advisory support to leaders and employees across Centre and Melbourne-based operations.

• Support effective people management within a highly unionised, Enterprise Agreement based environment.

• Assist managers with employee relations matters, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the Senior Regional Human Resources Business Partner.

• Support industrial compliance, including interpretation and application of the Enterprise Agreement, policies and legislative requirements.

• Assist with investigations and disciplinary processes by providing coordination, documentation and procedural support, with overall carriage retained by the Senior Regional HRBP.

• Build strong working relationships with operational leaders to support workforce stability, capability and compliance.

• Contribute to HR initiatives, projects and continuous improvement activities aligned with organisational priorities.

Key requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR advisory role.

• Experience supporting workplaces governed by an Enterprise Agreement.

• Exposure to employee relations and industrial case support.

• Sound working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.

• Ability to provide clear, practical advice in operational and high-risk environments.

• Strong interpersonal, written communication and documentation skills.

• High level of professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

• Ability to pass required health assessments

• Eligibility to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check
