About the Role:
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre in Broadmeadows. This is a full-time dynamic, operationally focused role where you will provide trusted HR advisory support to leaders and employees across the Centre, as well as Melbourne-based operations.
Key responsibilities:
Provide high-quality, operational HR advisory support to leaders and employees across Centre and Melbourne-based operations.
Support effective people management within a highly unionised, Enterprise Agreement based environment.
Assist managers with employee relations matters, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the Senior Regional Human Resources Business Partner.
Support industrial compliance, including interpretation and application of the Enterprise Agreement, policies and legislative requirements.
Assist with investigations and disciplinary processes by providing coordination, documentation and procedural support, with overall carriage retained by the Senior Regional HRBP.
Build strong working relationships with operational leaders to support workforce stability, capability and compliance.
Contribute to HR initiatives, projects and continuous improvement activities aligned with organisational priorities.
Key requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR advisory role.
Experience supporting workplaces governed by an Enterprise Agreement.
Exposure to employee relations and industrial case support.
Sound working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
Ability to provide clear, practical advice in operational and high-risk environments.
Strong interpersonal, written communication and documentation skills.
High level of professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
Ability to pass required health assessments
Eligibility to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check
