About the role
About Infocus
Infocus is a national, strategic wealth business. We help financial advice businesses run, grow and scale through Australia's only truly end-to-end operating platform, bringing together advice, technology, investment solutions, platforms and business support capabilities. Our strategy is centred on growth, operational excellence, data-driven decision making and creating meaningful value for our Member Firms, Enterprise Partners and clients.
We pride ourselves on our excellent team culture, our commitment to quality financial advice and the opportunity we have to make a genuine difference in the lives of our clients. Our Head Office is uniquely positioned here on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, with our team of approximately 80 talented individuals across Australia in our various state offices.
About the Role
This role offers an ambitious finance professional the chance to build a genuinely commercial finance career in a growing business. It provides direct exposure to senior decision-making and the opportunity to influence how finance supports performance across the Group.
The role will support the Group Head of Finance in lifting the quality and reliability of finance across the Group, with a clear focus on management reporting, financial control, budgeting, forecasting and statutory reporting.
It is well suited to someone who wants to deepen their technical capability, sharpen their commercial judgement and develop the confidence to move into future finance leadership roles.
Key Objectives
Management Reporting & Performance Insights
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management reporting for the Group and its business units.
Develop reporting packs, dashboards and analysis that explain performance, trends, risks and opportunities.
Translate financial and operational data, including client and adviser insights, into practical commentary and recommendations.
Partner with business leaders to improve understanding of revenue, margin, cost performance and growth opportunities.
Financial Control Environment
Support a disciplined month-end close process, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and review of key balances.
Strengthen financial controls, approval processes, reconciliations and documentation across the Group.
Identify control gaps, reporting risks and process inefficiencies and help implement practical improvements.
Maintain high standards of accuracy, accountability and ownership across finance processes.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Modelling
Support the annual budget and quarterly forecast process, including scenario modelling and analysis.
Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast and provide clear variance analysis.
Develop financial models to support business cases, strategic initiatives, pricing, acquisition activity and investment decisions.
Help improve forecast accuracy and build stronger financial planning discipline across the business.
Statutory Reporting & Tax
Assist with preparation of annual financial statements, audit files and supporting schedules across Group entities.
Support external audit, statutory lodgements and compliance reporting requirements.
Prepare tax working papers, reconciliations and information required by external tax advisers.
Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax obligations and corporate reporting requirements.
The above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the needs of the business.
About You
We're less interested in finding someone who can simply close the books and more interested in finding someone who can help build the future finance function.
You'll likely bring:
CA or CPA qualified.
Ideally 5–7 years post-qualified experience in a commercial finance, management reporting, audit, business partnering or financial control role.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance desirable.
Strong management reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary skills.
Sound technical accounting knowledge and experience supporting audit, statutory reporting and tax processes.
Strong Excel and financial modelling capability, with the ability to turn data into insights.
Good understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, month-end close and process improvement.
Commercial mindset and interest in using finance to support business performance and growth.
Confident communicator who can work with senior stakeholders and explain financial information clearly.
High attention to detail, strong ownership and ability to manage competing priorities.
Curious, proactive and career-driven, with a clear desire to develop into a broader commercial finance leadership role.
Experience in financial services, wealth management or a multi-entity group environment highly regarded.
