Senior Accountant

About the role

We are a small, long established accounting firm in Mandurah and we are looking for a suitably qualified accountant to join our team who can hit the ground running. Our practice has a varied range of clients, from individual wage earners to groups with multiple entities, plus a substantial SMSF client base. We also have a significant audit base, including but not limited to Not for Profits and SMSF's.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and other compliance documents for Companies, Trusts, SMSF and Individuals

• Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to clients

• Conduct thorough financial analysis and provide insights to help clients make informed business decisions

• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify planning opportunities

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and personalised service

• Oversee and mentor less experienced team members including reviewing jobs

• Collaborate with the team to efficiently solve client issues

• Take proactive measures to prevent future issues and identify opportunities

• Liaise with the ATO and other government bodies

About you

• Minimum of 5 years in public practice

• CPA or CA qualifications

• Experience and high-level competence with business services, accounting, tax, SMSF's, companies, trusts, partnerships and reasonably complex groups

• Experience with MYOB, Xero and BGL is highly desirable

• Experience working with SMSF clients is highly desirable

• Experience working with audit clients is desirable but not essential

• Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal directly with clients

• A willing, friendly and enthusiastic team member

• Permanent residency of Australia required
