About the role
A growing national quasi - in house insurance-focused legal practice is seeking two lawyers to join its Melbourne team: a Special Counsel and a Junior Lawyer / Associate (1–4 PQE).
This practice operates on a unique model that allows lawyers to focus on genuine legal work — running matters end-to-end, appearing in proceedings, and advising insured clients directly — without billable hour targets or business development requirements.
Professional indemnity matters across a range of professions
Personal injury and liability claims
Litigated and advisory work, managed end-to-end
Direct client engagement and court exposure
Special Counsel:
Senior insurance lawyer with strong professional indemnity experience with personal injury
Confident managing complex matters and providing strategic oversight
Enjoys mentoring and contributing to team leadership
Junior Lawyer / Associate (1–4 PQE):
Background in personal injury or litigation
Strong drafting and analytical skills
Keen to develop within a supportive, structured environment
No billables or business development
Collegiate, down-to-earth culture
National work with local team support
Long-term career development and flexibility
