Family Support Worker

• Provide direct support to participants and their families in accordance with individual support plans, behaviour support plans (where applicable), and NDIS plan goals.
• Assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, medication support (as trained and authorised), and household tasks.
• Support participants to access the community, attend appointments, and participate in social, recreational, and family activities.
• Provide in-home respite and family support to reduce carer stress and strengthen family capacity.
• Support the implementation of positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where relevant to a participant's plan.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional shift notes and incident reports via the organisation's care management system.
• Report incidents, hazards, complaints, and changes in participant wellbeing promptly in line with IHC policy.
• Work within a rostered shift pattern, including flexibility for weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.
• Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with NDIS Code of Conduct, privacy legislation, and IHC policies and procedures.
• Participate in supervision, training, and professional development, including mandatory eLearning and competency requirements.
• Contribute to a safe working environment by following WHS procedures, manual handling techniques, and infection control practices.

4. Selection Criteria Essential:

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or a related field (or willingness to obtain).
• Current

First Aid and CPR certification.

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) clearance, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
• Current

Working with Children Check (if supporting participants under 18).

• Valid Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
• Sound understanding of person-centred practice, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and Practice Standards.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including accurate case note recording.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
• Legal right to work in Australia.

Desirable:

• Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, physical disability, or high care needs.
• Training in positive behaviour support, manual handling, or medication administration.
• Experience working within an NDIS-registered provider environment.

5. Employment Conditions

• Employment is subject to the SCHADS Award 2010 and IHC's Employment Agreement and workplace policies.
• Ongoing employment is subject to satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening, police check, and reference checks.
• Completion of IHC's mandatory induction, eLearning modules, and required certifications prior to and during employment.
• This position may require travel between participant households; a vehicle allowance or kilometer reimbursement applies in line with the Award.
