About the role
The Manufacturing Operator is responsible for carrying out daily manufacturing
activities including the weighing, sieving, blending, and packing of probiotic powder
products in a GMP-compliant, TGA-licensed facility. This role requires strict adherence
to quality, hygiene, and safety standards, ensuring all products are manufactured to
specification and in compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Operator is responsible for carrying out daily manufacturing
activities including the weighing, sieving, blending, and packing of probiotic powder
products in a GMP-compliant, TGA-licensed facility. This role requires strict adherence
to quality, hygiene, and safety standards, ensuring all products are manufactured to
specification and in compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Tasks
• Perform accurate weighing, sieving, blending, and packing of probiotic powders
following approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs).
• Operate manufacturing equipment such as IBC blenders, weighing, seiving, vacuum
lifters, and foil sealers.
• Conduct in-process checks (e.g. weight, appearance, label verification) and report
discrepancies.
• Ensure correct product and lot traceability during all stages of manufacturing.
• Support the changeover and line clearance process between product batches.
GMP Compliance & Documentation
• Complete batch documentation, logbooks, cleaning records, and checklists accurately
and in real time.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and report any deviations immediately.
• Participate in internal audits, training, and quality system improvement activities.
Cleaning & Hygiene
• Perform cleaning of equipment and production areas in line with validated cleaning
procedures.
• Follow growing requirements and maintain strict personal hygiene in cleanroom
environments.
• Adhere to allergen control, cross-contamination prevention, and environmental
monitoring protocols.
Health & Safety
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow site WHS protocols.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or incidents immediately.
• Operate equipment safely and participate in safety meetings or toolbox talks.
Team & Communication
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing team members and supervisors.
• Attend daily shift handovers and contribute to a productive and positive team
environment.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully to support smooth production operations.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
• Previous experience in GMP pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing.
• Ability to follow written instructions and complete detailed documentation accurately.
• Physically fit – able to lift up to 25 kg, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive
tasks.
• Understanding of hygiene, safety, and product handling requirements.
Desirable:
• Experience in probiotic or powder blending environments.
• Forklift licence (LF) and/or experience operating pallet jacks and tugs.
• Certificate III or IV in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or equivalent.
Key Competencies
• High attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
Work Environment
• Dry powder blending and cleanroom areas.
• Manual handling, equipment operation, and extended periods of standing.
• May involve rotating shifts and occasional weekend or overtime work.
