Process Operator - Weighbridge

As a Process Operator (Weighbridge) at Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you’ll be responsible for the correct weighing of all cane entering the weighbridge.

This position will be based at Proserpine Mill in the Mackay region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Mackay region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.

This is a seasonal role at our sugar processing facility that involves shift work during the crushing season, including weekends and overtime, as well as day work during the maintenance period.  

Your Role in Action

• Start of the Mill: You control the first station in the mill making sure cane gets from the bins to the milling train in regular fashion.
• Link to the Grower: Maintain cane consignment data to make sure the right grower gets paid for the right cane and maintain records of scheduled weighbridge test weights.
• Mechanical Reasoning: Troubleshooting issues with the automated sequence of bin handling machines to ensure the mill keeps tipping bins.
• Housekeeping: Maintain excellent housekeeping practices of fixed plant around weighbridge. Assist in scheduling cleaning of the weighbridge.
• Collaboration: Communicate effectively with Cane Supply & Transport and Laboratory teams.
• Communication: Provide regular and accurate feedback to Mill management on station performance and quality issues.
• Training: Willing and able to achieve relevant sugar milling module competencies.

Your Winning Combination

The successful applicant must be a strong communicator who can work alongside a range of different people. Bonus points for applicants who have basic mechanical skills and high-risk work licences such as Confined Space and/or Working at Heights (training provided for the right person).
