IT Security Officer

Overview of role:

The IT Security Officer is a multi-faceted role incorporating management of IT security projects, operation and administration of security systems, technical design and support functions for security across all information systems, and incident response.

The primary function the IT Security Officer is responsible for is establishing and maintaining the baseline security posture of all of Coliban Water’s information and operational technologies. This requires the utilisation of very broad specialist knowledge across a wide range of technologies to allow the defining, implementation and enforcing technical security standards.

The IT Security Officer is required to design and implement new key technical security systems. This includes understanding Coliban Water’s IT architecture in order to design and implement security systems which integrate and support current and future IT, OT and software system employed by Coliban Water.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Security Baseline

• Develop, implement, and maintain the IT security baseline including standards, processes, and controls for all aspects of IT infrastructure and operations.
• Champion change in the environment to improve IT security.
• Proactively oversee and mentor the IT Operations team to continuously improve their IT security, and compliance with baseline requirements.
• Support business system administrators (e.g. SCADA, GIS, AIMS) to implement security standards.
• Support the development of new business system to achieve the IT security baseline.

IT Security Solutions

• Implement Security controls prioritised in the Information Security program of works.
• Provide the systems administration function for Coliban Water’s IT security systems including Identity and Access Management, Firewalls, Network Access Control, Logging, Email Gateway, Endpoint Detection and Response, white-listing, Password Manager, and others.
• Architect IT security controls including new systems, improvements to current systems, standards and processes.        

About you:

Tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science or similar

Relevant industry certification in security practice or controls (e.g. CompTIA Sec+, CCNA Cyber Ops, etc)

Demonstrated relevant experience and a detailed understanding of IT security practices and several common controls which may include but are not limited to Identity and Privilege Access Management, Logging, Security Information

In addition to the qualifications and experience specified above, you will be required to meet the following criteria:

• 4 years demonstrated experience in IT with 2 years’ experience in a similar security role
• Demonstrated experience and a detailed understanding of IT security practices and several common controls which may include but are not limited to Identity and Privilege Access Management, Logging, Security Information and Event Management, Vulnerability Management, Network Security, Cloud Security, OS and Application hardening.
• Demonstrated experience in fundamental/first-response Digital Forensics and Incident Response.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing process improvements .
• Highly developed interpersonal communication skills with the ability to mentor, negotiate, persuade and resolve conflicts.
• A team player, with a proven record contributing to a positive supportive work environment resulting in high performing teams which achieve objectives and demonstrate continuous improvement in quality and service delivery.

Salary:

The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 4 $93,548-$112,895 + superannuation salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience. This role is a Fulltime Ongoing position.
