Grid Connections Manager

At JLE Group, we specialise in providing complete electrical solutions, from the design and construction of transmission and distribution networks to the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems for solar and wind projects. We are expanding our network development & connections capability and are seeking an experienced Grid Connections Manager to lead grid connection strategies for major energy and infrastructure projects nationwide.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Network Development & Connections, you will lead the strategic, technical and commercial coordination of grid connection projects across Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with developers, major energy users, network operators, AEMO and industry stakeholders to deliver grid connection solutions for renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centres, industrial facilities and large load projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead grid connection strategies for large load, renewable generation, BESS, industrial and network infrastructure projects.
• Manage client connection pathways from opportunity screening through to project development decision points.
• Coordinate engagement with DNSPs, TNSPs, AEMO and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee network capacity assessments, technical due diligence and connection option studies.
• Manage power system modelling inputs and outputs through specialist consultants and technical teams.
• Translate complex technical constraints into practical commercial and project recommendations.
• Support preparation of proposals, budgets, delivery plans and advisory service offerings.
• Contribute to the development of JLE's growing grid connection and network advisory capability.
• Mentor engineers and connection specialists while promoting best practice across the business.

About You

You are a commercially minded energy industry professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for helping clients navigate Australia's electricity network environment.

Essential

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant experience in grid connections, network planning, power systems or customer connections.
• Strong understanding of National Electricity Rules (NER) connection processes.
• Experience engaging with DNSPs, TNSPs, AEMO, developers or major energy users.
• Excellent communication and client management skills.
• Ability to balance technical, commercial and project considerations to achieve successful outcomes.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer, RPEQ or equivalent professional registration.
• Postgraduate qualifications in power systems, energy systems or related disciplines.
• Experience with renewable energy, BESS, data centre or large industrial connection projects.
• Exposure to software such as PowerFactory, PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP or CYMCAP.
