Founding Software Engineer

Applied Intelligence helps businesses identify, develop and implement custom AI solutions that delivers measurable commercial results.
We work directly with businesses to find valuable problems, design the right solution and build mission-critical software that gets used in the real world.
This is not a traditional software engineering role where you’ll work through a backlog of tickets. You’ll work directly with the founder and our customers to take business problems from idea to working product.
What you'll do:
Build AI-enabled software products end-to-end, from prototype through to productionWork across frontend, backend, databases, APIs, integrations and AI systemsTurn messy business problems into simple, well-designed softwareUse AI development tools aggressively to move from idea to production fasterWork directly with customers to understand how they operate and improve what we buildHelp enhance our technical standards, architecture and development practicesTake ownership of what you build after launch, including reliability, security and ongoing improvement
What we're looking for:
We care much more about what you can build than how many years you’ve been an engineer.You might have several years of professional experience, or you might be unusually good and much earlier in your career.
What matters is that you:Have built and shipped real software (and can show us some examples)Consider yourself on the forefront of AI (keeping up to date and experimenting with latest tools)Are an expert in agentic development using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex as a core part of how you buildHave strong product judgement and care about making software simple and usefulCan take a loosely defined problem and drive it through to a finished resultCare about the quality of what you shipAre curious about businesses and how technology can make them work better
Our stack today includes TypeScript, React/Next.js, Supabase/Postgres, Vercel and leading AI models and APIs, but we care more about your ability to learn and ship than experience with any particular framework.
