We are searching for a Financial Accountant to join the team in Yatala, QLD. This is a full-time permanent role with hybrid work flexibility.

The Financial Accountant is accountable for producing high quality reconciliations for SOX controls compliance, compilation of financial reports and lodgments to meet financial reporting obligations. The responsibility includes balancing of several key balance sheet accounts and preparing the month-end working papers, including trust accounts, accruals, inventory, prepaids, and recoverable expenses.
Month-end duties include preparation of workbooks and journal entries, investigation and remediation of discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
Trust account reporting ensuring compliance with trust account legislation.
Bank Reconciliations, including matching high volume
Assist with inventory workbooks – including contract agreement, purchase allocations, journal entries for inventory sold and liabilities.
Reconcile sale expense accounts (e.g. repairs and hauling) to ensure completeness of expenses and appropriate recovery. Propose journal entries to accrue further expenses or reclass existing ones where appropriate.
Prepare financial reports for joint venture reporting
Generate workbooks which test SOX controls.
Analyse movements in P&L and Balance Sheet accounts and provide commentary.
Lodgments of ABS Surveys and Tax Returns (FBT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax and GST).
Liaise with accounts receivable department and accounts payable department to ensure coding is accurate.
Assist with preparation of samples to auditors.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

Here’s what you bring
Strong organisational and time management skills. You have a proven ability to juggle and prioritise a high volume of work, and meet deadlines
2+ years' experience either in public practice or a financial accountant role.
Advanced skills in Excel.
A keen eye for detail – you’ll provide precise facts and figures and produce accurate work
Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team.
Strong work ethic – you take pride in a job well done
Experience working with ERP systems is highly regarded (Oracle preferred)
Proficiency with MS Office package
Educational/Licensing Requirements
Accounting degree or equivalent.
Designated CA or CPA (or working towards)
