Industrial Relations Officer – Sydney
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an Industrial Relations Officer to join a well-established organisation supporting the civil and construction industry. This role offers exposure to a broad range of workplace relations matters, providing expert advice, advocacy and representation across employment and industrial relations issues.
Working within a collaborative Workplace Relations team, you'll partner with employers to deliver practical solutions while ensuring compliance with current workplace legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide industrial and workplace relations advice to employers on a broad range of employment matters.
Manage and resolve industrial disputes, including unfair dismissal, redundancy, general protections and workplace grievances.
Represent clients during conciliations, arbitrations and proceedings before relevant industrial tribunals.
Draft and review Enterprise Agreements and provide advice throughout the bargaining process.
Interpret Modern Awards, legislation and employment agreements.
Conduct workplace relations audits and compliance assessments.
Prepare written advice, reports and submissions on workplace relations issues.
Develop and deliver training sessions and presentations on employment and industrial relations topics.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide ongoing workplace relations support.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations, Law, Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
1–2+ years' experience in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, Employment Law or Workplace Relations.
Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
Strong communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
Excellent written skills with the ability to prepare reports and professional correspondence.
A practical, solutions-focused approach to workplace relations.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A current driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
