About the role
The Canberra Rex Hotel is a boutique historic hotel located in the vibrant Braddon neighbourhood.
The Hotel is bound together by bespoke accommodation, expansive meeting and event spaces, and dining experiences, including The Howling Moon and Swan & King.

The Role
As a CDP, you will be a key member of our kitchen team, helping us to ensure we provide an exceptional experience for all our guests. This role will include:
Assistance with menu creation
Management of cost control
Training, supporting and leading our team members
Assist in all aspects of our kitchen department
Assist with staff rostering
Assist with the overall management of the kitchen operations within the Hotel in conjunction with management
About You
We are looking for individuals who are guest orientated and creative, with a friendly, fun and energetic disposition.
It is essential that you possess exceptional communication skills and that you can work independently but are a team player. You will have the ability to work well under pressure whilst always maintaining a professional attitude.
You are experienced in leading, training and motivating a team. You are reliable and flexible in your availability to work a variety of shifts, including late nights, early mornings, weekends and public holidays
Requirements
A formal Commercial Cookery Certification
A minimum of 2 years experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Demi Chef ready to take the next step in their career
High level customer service skills, professionalism and personal presentation
Prior experience leading and supporting a busy kitchen in a high-volume banqueting and à la carte environment
Understanding of food safety, WHS and HACCP principles
Prior experience in a leadership role
Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, Monday - Sunday
