WHS Manager – Big River Pork Meat Processing

Big River Pork is a growing pork processing business located in Murray Bridge, South Australia. With our workforce now at approximately 500 employees following rapid expansion, we are excited to introduce a dedicated WHS Manager role to strengthen our on-site safety and health leadership. This pivotal position will drive a zero-harm culture in our high-volume meat processing plant, while supporting regional jobs in Murray Bridge.

About the Opportunity

This hands-on role will lead Work, Health & Safety initiatives across our Murray Bridge plant. Reporting to the Strategic HR and WHS Manager, you will drive compliance, risk management, Return to Work processes and a positive safety culture in a dynamic meat processing environment. Occasional work-from-home is available for projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the site WHS management system, risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and training.

• Manage Return to Work and the programs for injured workers.

• Working within the HR / WHS team with active collaboration across production and leadership teams.

• Support continuous improvement and regulatory reporting (SafeWork SA).

About You

• Experienced WHS professional with exposure to manufacturing or food processing environments.

• Strong knowledge of SA WHS legislation and Return to Work requirements.

• Practical, solutions-focused with excellent communication and influencing skills.

• Relevant qualifications in WHS.
