A role with real impactA newly restructured, greenfields role shaping and implementing Walcha’s tourism strategy. Reporting to the Director Community Services, you will build a strategic approach to grow the visitor economy and position Walcha as a destination in its own right.
What you'll be doingDevelop, implement and monitor a destination strategy to grow the visitor economyAct as Council's specialist point of contact on tourism matters internally and externallyFoster strong relationships with tourism operators and the Walcha Business GroupGrow overnight visitation through famils, conferencing, product development and marketingManage Council's digital tourism assets and support the Visitor Information Centre
Who this role suitsBackground in tourism with a track record of growing visitation or outcomesStrong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills across community and industryAbility to see the bigger strategic picture while remaining comfortable in the detailConfidence engaging with local government, business groups and community stakeholdersA tourism-related qualification is desirable but not essential
What's on offerSalary up to $120,000 + super + relocation assistance up to $5,000Permanent full-time role (35-hour week with an RDO every 3 weeks)Direct access to Council's Director Community Services and senior leadershipOpportunity to build a strategy and a function from the ground upUnique regional lifestyle in the New England High Country
