AI & Automation Specialist

Housing Australia is the Australian Government's independent housing agency. It supports the delivery of Government programs to improve the supply of sustainable, long-term social and affordable housing, and support home ownership for more Australians.

About the role 

The AI & Automation Specialist is a hands-on role responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI and automation solutions that improve efficiency, decision-making, and customer outcomes across Housing Australia. Working across the Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem, including Azure AI Services, AI Foundry, Copilot, and Power Platform, you will partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop fit-for-purpose AI solutions, and deliver them into production. Combining strong technical expertise with business problem-solving skills, you will ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with responsible AI, data governance, and enterprise architecture standards. 

Key responsibilities 

• Design, build, and deploy AI and automation solutions using Azure AI Services, AI Foundry, Copilot, Power Platform, and related technologies to improve business processes and decision-making. 
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities and deliver AI-enabled solutions, leading initiatives from discovery and proof of concept through to production deployment and adoption. 
• Ensure AI and automation solutions are secure, governed, and compliant, embedding responsible AI principles, monitoring, testing, auditability, and enterprise data governance requirements. 
• Integrate and optimise AI and automation capabilities across enterprise platforms, leveraging modern integration patterns, data platforms, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation. 

Skills and experience 

• Proven experience designing and delivering AI and intelligent automation solutions, with hands-on expertise across Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Copilot, Power Platform, and related technologies. 
• Strong technical capability in AI, automation, and integration, including experience connecting business processes, enterprise systems, APIs, and data platforms to scalable AI-enabled solutions. 
• Sound understanding of responsible AI, data governance, cyber security, and platform controls, with the ability to deliver secure, compliant, and well-governed solutions. 
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business challenges into practical AI and automation use cases that deliver measurable value. 
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Power Platform ecosystems, including governance, deployment, and automation best practices, with working knowledge of languages such as Python, PowerShell, or C# highly regarded. 
• Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, along with Microsoft AI, Azure, Power Platform, or automation certifications, will be highly regarded.
