About the role
We are seeking a Traffic Controller to join us on a casual basis. This is a critical safety-focused position located in Melbourne's South East . As a Traffic Controller, you will play an essential role in managing traffic flow and ensuring the safety of both the public and construction workers at various work sites. This hands-on role requires you to be present on-site, directing vehicles and pedestrians, and maintaining compliance with traffic management regulations. Your work will be vital in preventing accidents and ensuring smooth operations across our projects.
Key responsibilities
Direct and manage traffic flow at construction sites and roadwork locations using hand signals, stop/slow boards and other approved traffic control devices
Ensure compliance with traffic management plans and all relevant Australian Standards and legislation
Monitor site conditions and adjust traffic control measures in response to changing circumstances
Maintain clear communication with site supervisors, construction teams and other traffic controllers
Conduct pre-shift safety briefings and toolbox talks as required
Respond to emergency situations promptly and professionally, following established protocols
Keep accurate records of traffic control activities and incident reports
Maintain high visibility and professional appearance at all times whilst on duty
What we're looking for
Current Traffic Controller Licence or equivalent qualification recognised in Victoria
First Aid Certificate (desirable)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods in various weather conditions
Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work on a casual basis as required
Sound understanding of traffic management principles and safety protocols
