Located in Herston, QLD, the clinic supports clients across a wide age range, working closely with families, carers, and other health professionals. The team values evidence-based practice, clear communication, and compassionate care in a welcoming clinical environment. As a growing practice, the clinic relies on accurate, timely administrative and financial support to maintain high-quality services and smooth day-to-day operations.Role Description The Medical Bookkeeper is a part-time, on-site role based at the clinic in Herston, QLD. This position is responsible for managing daily financial transactions, including patient billing, invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliation of accounts. The role includes maintaining accurate financial records, processing Medicare and private health claims, preparing reports for management, and supporting payroll and expense tracking as required. The Medical Bookkeeper works closely with clinicians and administrative staff to ensure correct recording of services, timely follow-up on outstanding accounts, and adherence to clinic policies and relevant regulations. The role also involves responding to patient and provider billing inquiries in a professional manner and contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes.
Qualifications and Experience Strong bookkeeping skills including experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and financial record-keeping.Proficiency with accounting software preferably within a medical or allied health environment. MYOB is used, full training in this software will be provided if necessaryUnderstanding of healthcare billing processes, including Medicare, private health insurance claims, and patient billing procedures.Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to manage confidential financial and patient information responsibly.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, administrative staff, and patients.Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a busy clinical setting.Previous experience in medical bookkeeping or finance in a healthcare practice is highly regarded.Relevant qualification in bookkeeping, or a related field (e.g., Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting, or equivalent experience).Medical reception experience and medical records experience. It is planned that the successful applicant will be responsible for medical reception one day a week on an ingoong basis as well as assisting to cover sick and annual leave.
