About the role

Shire Skin Cancer Doctors is seeking a Casual Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and professional team in Sutherland, NSW. This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst providing essential administrative and customer service support to our busy skin cancer clinic, potential for permanent employment as we grow.

As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role is perfect for someone seeking flexible work arrangements whilst contributing to a healthcare setting where patient care is paramount.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly upon arrival and manage the check-in process efficiently

• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct enquiries to appropriate staff members

• Schedule and manage patient appointments using clinic management software - Best Practice preferrable

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation

• Manage patient documentation, including consent forms and medical histories

• Process patient payments and manage financial transactions accurately

• Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area

• Provide general information to patients regarding procedures, appointments and clinic policies

• Assist with administrative tasks as required to support clinic operations

• Liaise with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinic

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment

• Proficiency with medical practice management software and general computer skills

• Experience with private & Medicare billing

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Organisational ability with strong attention to detail

• Understanding of patient privacy obligations and confidentiality requirements

• Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively

• A genuine passion for supporting patients and contributing to quality healthcare delivery

• Flexibility to work casual hours, covering sick leave & annual leave

• Current knowledge of medical reception best practices would be advantageous
