From the Earth Health Foods Blackwood is a large, independent health food store located in the heart of Blackwood.

We stock a wide range of health foods, supplements, practitioner products, natural beauty, bulk foods, eco/home products and specialty grocery items. We are a locally owned store with a strong focus on genuine customer service, quality products and helpful natural health advice.

We also have in-store naturopaths and a team who are passionate about supporting our local Blackwood and Adelaide Hills community.

About the role

We are looking for a casual Retail Assistant to join our team.

This is a retail assistant position within a busy health food store, so the role will involve customer service, serving customers, helping with product enquiries, stock work, merchandising, general store presentation and supporting the day-to-day running of the shop.

A naturopathy, herbal medicine or naturopathy background would be ideal, but we would also love to hear from naturopathy students, herbalists, experienced health food retail staff, or people with strong supplement and natural health knowledge.

The role will be mainly based at our Blackwood store, with some Norwood shifts also available/optional.

Approx. 30 hours per week available. Good availability is preferred, and regular Saturday availability would be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Providing knowledgeable and friendly customer service, assisting customers in selecting appropriate natural health and wellness products

• Offering guidance on naturopathic principles, supplements, vitamins and natural remedies to support customer health goals

• Processing customer transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash and card payments

• Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming retail environment, including stock displays and product arrangement

• Receiving, unpacking and stocking deliveries of products, ensuring accuracy and proper placement

• Checking stock levels and assisting with inventory management and product ordering

• Building positive relationships with customers and ensuring their shopping experience is pleasant and informative

• Answering customer enquiries about product ingredients, uses, dosage and compatibility with other products

• Staying informed about our product range, industry trends and naturopathic wellness information

• Supporting the team in achieving sales targets and promoting special offers or new product lines

What we're looking for

• A genuine interest in natural health, wellness and naturopathy with a commitment to learning more about natural health solutions

• Previous retail or customer service experience, ideally in a health, wellness or specialty retail environment

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers and explain complex health and wellness concepts in an accessible way

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills for managing stock and maintaining store standards

• The ability to work flexibly on a casual basis, adapting to varying shift patterns as required

• A friendly, patient and helpful demeanour with a passion for supporting customers' wellness journeys

• Basic numeracy and IT skills for operating point-of-sale systems and managing transactions

• Reliability and punctuality in attending scheduled shifts

• Preferably, formal or informal training or qualifications in naturopathy, herbalism, nutrition or related natural health disciplines

• Knowledge of common supplements, vitamins, herbs and natural remedies and their applications
