About the role
Lead the Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) program across SVHS and affiliated services, providing clinical and professional leadership to support safe and sustainable medication practices, compliance with medication management standards, and alignment with SVHA and NSW Health priorities
Oversee the hospital medication formulary, including Individual Patient Use (IPU) approvals, formulary requests and reporting, and liaison with the State Formulary Committee and that all regulatory and legislative requirements are met.
Deliver Medication Use Evaluations and Quality Improvement activities, including monitoring and reporting on drug expenditure, and contribute to QUM research, education, promotional initiatives, bulletins and memos supporting safe and effective medication use
Coordinate the SVHN Drug and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) secretariat, including communicating DTC decisions, preparing reports and maintaining the Pharmacy Intranet, while providing QUM advice to clinicians, pharmacists and external organisations including the Ministry of Health and CEC
Be an active member of relevant committees and working parties and assist in the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures to ensure optimal medication management
About you
Registered pharmacist with AHPRA, with no conditions on scope of practice, and relevant post-registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills and experience. Availability for on-call and weekend work as required
Significant experience and demonstrated competence in clinical pharmacy services, with strong clinical judgement, expertise and commitment to ongoing professional development
Demonstrated experience in formulary management and Drug and Therapeutics Committee processes, including implementation of committee decisions and development and implementation of medication-related policies and procedures
Demonstrated experience delivering Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) initiatives and Medicines Use Evaluation (MUE/DUE) activities, with knowledge of applying relevant Healthcare Standards in practice
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to develop high-quality written materials, communicate effectively, negotiate and influence stakeholders, and contribute to a positive workplace culture
Strong problem-solving, organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously and deliver complex tasks with accuracy, attention to detail and accountability
